Just like you, Sahara is someone who has big dreams. And you know that big dreams need the right amount of dedication, and determination. She already has these BIG two! Only one thing is missing, she needed to learn how to fuel her dreams! Overcoming the cycle of just barely getting by was just not enough especially during this time of Pandemic. Because she was looking to earn more, she wanted to learn more. You see, learning is the first step in earning. Learn directly from the success story of Sahara, how she started out from winging it, and ended up winning it!

Sahara had ample work experience. She could muster up an ample amount of confidence that she could get things done but her efforts back then didn’t seem enough. She tried applying for the typical data entry, and other admin type of jobs online but she never received any response. All efforts seemed to be in vain. With her confidence dwindling like a burning candle through the dark, she just kept on going until she found what seemed to be a click-bait video. Let’s find out what it turned out to be.

ARE YOU JUST ON MAINTENANCE?

Sahara was already earning a little over the minimum wage. It became clear to her that her hard-earned salary was just enough to keep up with all the expenses since she needed to keep on supporting her sibling who was studying in Japan. And when “Judith”, “Juna” and “Bill” came around, her salary just went down the drain every time. She needed to overcome this vicious cycle of just barely getting by.

“napa-isip ‘nun ako, habang nasa kwarto lang ako, nag-babrowse-browse sa internet…Masyadong [marami] akong free time. Kasi that time, anu kami noon eh, noong nag ECQ, nag skeletal din, nag skeletal work.” Mga twice or thrice ka papasok in a week.”

WINGING IT JUST DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT.

Searching online and joining online groups to get the feel of how the online world works gave away one trend that was going on in the name of ESL. She sought to learn more about it only to find out that it only offered a dollar an hour rate at that time. With the goal she had in mind, she got the urge to find something much worthy of her attention at Onlinejobs.ph. She had the guts to send out as many applications as she could but her determination and dedication just didn’t make the cut. Unfortunately, competing with her office-based skills, while Work from Home set-up becoming a fad, things didn’t work out. She never gained an opportunity even just for an interview.

RETREAT IS NOT DEFEAT

After her conventional efforts didn’t seem to bring in positive results, Sahara opted to rethink her strategy and take on a different approach. From her point of view, it was easy to say that it all looked too good to be true. It seemed like a click-bait for just another Get-Rich-Quick scheme, but she was resolved to get herself immersed into another world.

“Akala ko’y parang another clickbait nanaman.. sa mga nakikita kong tulad ng ibang Youtube channels… Ganyan P10,000 a week, ganyan ka laki. Parang imposible naman.”

Luckily, she clicked on a video created by AmazonationPH. Seeing how they applied their techniques on getting clients easier, it came to her as an epiphany.

SHE DID SOME PROSPECTING AND DISCOVERED A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

When asked “Did you have questions or fears when you were still starting?”

“Yes po, nung minention palang yun Amazon, ‘dun na ako medyo kinabahan kasi wala akong idea about Amazon…Alam ko online shopping pero wala akong kaalam-alam kung paano ka magiging Amazon Virtual Assistant para sa Amazon Sellers..” Kung gusto mo talaga, susubukan mo, at parating may paraan.”

She was honest to goodness inexperienced both in Freelancing and being an Amazon VA. But the ASVA Masterclass was designed in a way where learning was offered in bite-size. You could actually go at your own pace and savor the learning all the way to the end.

“Yung tipong matutunan mo talaga yung tinuturo sa module.”

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITIES DON’T STAY LONG SO TIMING IS EVERYTHING

With Sahara keeping her full-time job, she knew that she had to get things done right the first time. Every opportunity of growing into a better version of herself plus earning so much more was laid right on the table. Determined, she was already hitting the quota of watching 2-3 videos in one day during those days she had to stay at home due to ECQ.

WE NOT ONLY GROW TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY OF AMAZON VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS. WE HAVE COACHES TOO!

During these trying times when work from home has become the next big thing in career choices, most of us are left to fend for ourselves. You’ve got an edge if you’re found to be skilled in your craft even if you’re on your own but working from home with a community that supports you during this Pandemic time is a luxury not many are able to enjoy.

“Amazing! Masasabi ko talagang, ‘Sa mundo ng Freelancing, advantage talaga yung may community ka, nag-baback-up sa’yo kung may concerns ka, may problems. Ang galing eh, kasi hindi lang yung mga fellow Amazon VAs and tumutulong sa’yo. Pati ‘yung mga coach ‘dun, tinutulungan ka talaga. Kaya worth it!”

HOW DID SHE KEEP UP WITH THE CHANGE OF PACE?

Sahara, being a newbie in the Virtual Assistant world, took advantage of how the brand new world was being unfolded in every training video that she had as part of the ASVA Masterclass. Through her consistent dedication to achieve her goals, she gracefully finished the ASVA Masterclass in less than two months.

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW, IF YOU USE WHAT YOU KNOW

At first it was as dry as the Gobi desert, now it turned as wet as the Amazon jungle. Applications were sent, and a bombardment of responses came. Responses were flooding that she even missed two interview invitations. Great thing that she had an online portfolio set-up through the help of the ASVA Masterclass. It was where she was able to get a quality interview opportunity. Through her honesty and confidence amid her nerve-wracking interview, she just used every opportunity to share what she had learned from the ASVA Masterclass. She believed that this was her greatest strength and this impressed her prospect clients. The way she packaged herself as an ASVA Virtual Assistant during that nothing to lose interview actually got her hired, not just as a VA but a Business Partner for her client.

PERKS OF BEING A BUSINESS PARTNER

Working over 20 hours a week, Sahara was already set to earn $420 dollars plus with the prospect of getting a great bonus from the profit sharing that she and her client had agreed on. Meeting her first clients, she felt like she had already used up all the luck she could get; they were really very kind to her.

“Meron dun one time, noong nag offer ako, ‘Oh sige, Ito yung kaya ko, mga 26 hours a week. Sabi nila, ay hindi, bawasan mo yan kasi ayaw ka naming ma-burn-out.

HOW ABOUT HER FULL-TIME JOB?

As long as she knew her strengths and set her limits fairly, she did not get pressured more than she could handle. Given how well her clients had trusted her, she was well able to manage her time without having to give up anything aside from her self-limiting beliefs and around 3-4 hours of her free time after work. (Hours that she had permission to choose.)

“Tapos for the first two months, ‘yun may tracking kami as usual.. Pero after ‘nun, noong sinabi ko sa kanilang bumalik na kami sa full-time work namin. Kasi alam nila may full-time work ako, Sabi nila, “Sige, huwag ka nalang mag-tracking, mag-work ka nalang kung anong oras mo gusto..”

THE BAIT IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE FISHERMAN

As a full-time career woman Sahara went beyond her comfort zone. She didn’t have much of an edge at first except her strong desire to get more out of life. Realizing that she had extra time amid the ECQ, she had a Eureka moment that she could actually do more with it! She wanted to get out of the vicious cycle of just surviving. A hook with a bait was reeled into the pond, it took time and effort, but never was it known that it was Sahara who reeled in the golden fish that brought her financial freedom.
